Jean Monnet Project “LFEU” EU LAW Training in Batumi

On July 7, Caucasus University/CU carried out the first part of the EU law trainings within the framework of the Jean Monnet Project “Legal Face of the EU”/LFEU, in Batumi City of the Adjara A/R (Hotel Sheraton).

 

The aim of the EU law training in Batumi City was to raise awareness in the region related to the EU, Association Agreement, Europeanization of Georgian law, as well to export the university knowledge to broad society, professional and academic world.  

 

On July 7, the training  was opened by the CU professor and Jean Monnet project coordinator Ms. Sophio Shengelia. The training participants were welcomed by the CU president Mr. Kakha Shengelia, Head of the Batumi City Municipality, Mayor Archil Chikovani, the rector of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Mr. Giorgi Sharvashidze.

 

The training was attended by 80 persons – representatives of different sectors of the region, namely, Adjara A/R government administration, Batumi City municipality, Academia and students of the regional universities, regional NGOs, different private companies.   

 

The topics of the training on July 7 were the following:  

 

  • European Integration Dynamics in Georgia (Jean Monnet Professor, CU Affiliated Association Professor Eka KARDAVA) 
  • EU – goals, values, particular nature (CU Affiliated Professor Guranda CHELIDZE) 
  • EU Law and Association Agreement  (Eka KARDAVA)
  • Personal Data Protection Regulation in the EU, CoE and Georgia (CU visiting professor Tamar KALDANI) 
  • AA/DCFTA, EU Labour Directives and Georgian Labour Code  (Eka KARDAVA)

 

 

Organization of the training was ensured by the assistants of the coordinator, CU training center representatives (Maia MUSHKUDIANI, Tamar GOGALADZE). 

 

CU International Relations and Projects Department was involved in event planning, coordination and communication (Director - Irena MELUA, staff - Tamar KARBAIA).

The training had a great response in the region.  Batumi City municipality announced about the event on its official web-page.

Registration of the training started at 09.45, the training started at 10.00. it continued till 18.20. During the training 2 coffee-break and one dinner was offered. Training was conducted in a full compliance with the covid-19 rules.
