Diplomacy and International relations in English

Bachelor program in Diplomacy and International Relations aims to graduate young specialists with fundamental knowledge of fundamental principles, processes and theories of international relations. Students comprehend the interdisciplinary nature of the field and have a general understanding of field related disciplines; understand the importance of scientific study of international politics and are equipped with relevant research and practical skills.  They are able to analyze historical and ongoing international political processes and identify the nature and interests of different actors in international relations, including Georgia. Program graduates are able to prepare empirically grounded research papers on different professional concepts and ideas and can communicate freely on professional matters, including in foreign language. They are equipped with universal values of humankind and are able to comprehend values of justice and democracy and strive to strengthen them. Specialists with above mentioned knowledge, skills and values will meet the requirements of the labor market for IR specialists as well as will be able to continue their studies to the next stage of higher education – graduate studies.

Program objectives are fully in line with the mission of the Caucasus University. These objectives illustrate what knowledge, skills and competencies it can provide for its students and how it can contribute to the development of this field and society.

Bachelor program in Diplomacy and International Relations is comprised of 240 ECTS, 60 ECTS per year, 30 ECTS per semester. Official duration of the Bachelor program is 4 academic years. The academic year is based on a semester principle.  1 ECTS credit equals 25 credit hours, which includes both a student's contact workload time (lecture, seminar, practical lesson, etc.), and his/her independent working hours (hours allocated for the preparation for midterm and final evaluations, as well as for the preparation of homework and presentations). In addition to this, it’s also possible to organize a summer semester. Students cannot take more than 75 ECTS credits during the one study year. 

 

Upon expiration of the Bachelor program allowed years of study, a student, with an academic liability may continue his/her studies during the additional semesters (no more than 4 semesters) with the purpose of completing the educational program, simultaneously keeping the student status. 

 

The Bachelor program in Diplomacy and International Relations consists of 240 ECTS, out of whcih 185 ECTS is devoted to main program courses and 55 ECTS are devoted to free components. Credit allocation is the following:

  1. 15 credits – General courses (mandatory);
  2. 20 credits – English language courses (mandatory); 
  3. 20 credits – Second foreign language courses (mandatory); 
  4. 135 credits - Core courses (mandatory);
  5. 50 credits – Core electives (out of these, 20 can be free credits).

  • Any person with full secondary education is entitled to enroll in the Bachelor’s program in Diplomacy and International Relations. The pre-condition for enrollment in the Program is passing the Unified National Examinations.  Examinations are conducted by LEPL the National Examinations Center. Any exceptions to the Law on Enrolment at Higher Education Institutions are allowed only in the cases prescribed by Law.  

     

    Subjects to be passed: 

     

    Georgian language and literature;

    Foreign language (English);

    One of the following mandatory subjects – Mathematics, History,  Geography,  Civic Education.

     

    Tuition fee for Georgian Citizens: 6 990 GEL

     

    Financial Waiver: When studying at the University students shall be entitled to financial waiver as prescribed by the internal regulations of the University; top three students of the first, second and third stage (on each stage individually) of the program are entitled to 100%, 50%, 30% waiver.
