17 June 2026

On June 14, students of the Caucasus University School of Tourism took part in an educational tour to historic Meskheti, led by Professor Levan Tsikarishvili.

The tour focused on Javakheti, the Javakheti Plateau, and the region’s key tourist attractions. Students visited the Poka St. Nino Monastery, where they learned about various products made by the monastery. They also observed birdlife around Paravani and Saghamo lakes, explored the culture and distinctive traditions of the Doukhobor community in the village of Gorelovka, and visited the pre-Christian megalithic complex in the village of Saro, which offers sweeping panoramic views of the Mtkvari River gorge.

At the end of the day, students took part in Meskhetian cuisine masterclasses held in a traditional Meskhetian house in the village of Chobareti. The hosts introduced them to the distinctive methods of preparing local dishes, with students actively participating in the process. A masterclass on making traditional Meskhetian tenili cheese was also held, accompanied by live traditional Meskhetian music.

Caucasus University School of Tourism plans to continue organizing similar activities in the future to help tourism students gain practical knowledge of tourist destinations across Georgia.
