As part of the project “Promoting Values Education in South Caucasus Higher Education Institutions” (PROVE), Caucasus University will host a professional training workshop for in-service teachers titled “Peace and Values Education in My Classroom.”
The PROVE project is a strategic initiative developed within the framework of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) program, focusing on peace education. The initiative is grounded in the innovative pedagogical approach known as VaKE (Values and Knowledge Education), which integrates the concurrent acquisition of values and content knowledge, enabling educators to naturally align subject-matter instruction with the development of students' value systems. In the contemporary educational landscape, the role of the teacher extends beyond the simple transmission of subject matter. In the era of globalization and artificial intelligence, the primary mission of education is to cultivate ethically conscious, socially responsible, and critically thinking citizens, a foundation laid during primary and secondary schooling. Consequently, a values-oriented instructional process assumes vital significance.
Through the training workshop “Peace and Values Education in My Classroom,” participants will:
- Master the VaKE (Values and Knowledge Education) methodology as an effective pedagogical framework for integration into the instructional process;
- Gain insights into transforming domain-specific curriculum content into an instrument for student value formation;
- Acquire practical tools for utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to efficiently generate domain-specific moral dilemmas.
The training program is open to teachers of any academic discipline who aspire to serve as agents of change within their school communities and integrate values and peace education into their daily instructional practice. The program welcomes educators motivated to implement innovative methodologies and deliver interactive, engaging lessons centered on the personal, ethical, and civic development of learners.
