European Law Faculties Association (ELFA) Annual Assembly

14 April 2023

On April 13-14, the annual general assembly and conference of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA) was held at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland).

Irena Melua, vice-president of internationalization at Caucasus University, and Sofia Shengelia, dean of the Caucasus School of Law, attended the ceremony on behalf of the university.

The main theme of the conference was "Interdisciplinary approaches to legal education". Within the framework of the event, several panel discussions were held on such important issues as the role of law schools in climate change, interdisciplinary and comparative legal education, and others.

It should be noted that the General Assembly supported the election of Veronica Ruiz Abou-Nigm, Professor of Law at the University of Edinburgh, as the new president of European Law Faculties Association (ELFA) during the session.

The assembly discussed the future development issues of the organization, updated the composition of the management board and approved the next year's budget.

It should be noted that the Caucasus School of Law has been a member of the organization since 2008; the European Law Faculties Association is the only organization that represents law faculties at the European level that are involved in legal educational and training processes.
