Starting on October 9, Caucasus University will host Science Week 2026, which will continue through October 16. Over the course of the week, the University will bring together Georgian and international researchers and scholars through a series of international conferences, panel discussions, and workshops.
Approximately 120 speakers are expected to participate in Science Week, including around 50 international participants from different countries around the world. Participants will have the opportunity to present their research findings, exchange knowledge and experience, engage in interdisciplinary discussion, and establish new academic and research connections.
The following events will be held within the framework of Science Week 2026:
- International Scientific Conference “European Union Enlargement: Practices and Challenges”, October 9-10, 2026 - within the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Chair “European Union for Peace, Prosperity and Security” (EU-PPS);
- 11th Annual International Scientific Conference “Education, Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future”, October 12-13, 2026;
- Caucasus University and Johns Hopkins University Joint International Interdisciplinary Conference - “Authoritarianism, Narratives, and Cultures: Continuity, Disruption, and Change, Past and Present”, October 15–16, 2026;
- Panel Discussion on Science Communication, October 12, 2026;
- Workshop “Research Ethics in Practice”, October 13, 2026.
The Panel Discussion on Science Communication will bring together Caucasus University’s leading researchers to discuss the growing importance of science communication and the role of researchers in making academic knowledge accessible, understandable, and relevant to wider society. The discussion will explore how scientists can communicate complex research beyond academia while maintaining scientific accuracy, and how digital technologies, AI, and social media are reshaping the way research reaches different audiences.
The Research Ethics Seminar will examine why ethical principles matter at every stage of research. It will provide an overview of key international declarations and guidance, then explore how to apply them in practice: assessing risks and benefits before a study begins, obtaining informed consent, protecting participants’ rights and confidentiality, and managing research data responsibly. Participants will also consider how Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) evaluate applications and how researchers can provide clear, well-reasoned justifications for ethical decisions. Through practical examples, the seminar will connect international standards with the decisions researchers face in their own work.
