1st International Conference -„A Child-friendly Justice System and Child Rights – The Best European and American Expereince”

On November 20, World Children's Day, the first international conference, titled "A Child-friendly Justice System and Child Rights – The Best European and American Expereince," was held at the "Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace" hotel with participation of children.

 

The conference united both Georgian and foreign professors and experts in the field, judges, prosecutors and lawyers, representatives of state and non-governmental organizations, practicing lawyers from various agencies, international organizations working on children's rights.

 

The conference was organized by the Child Rights Center of the Caucasus University School of Law, and the Council of Europe, with the financial support of the Council of Europe and the Embassy of the United States of America, in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund. The conference was combine reports of multidisciplinary content and focus on the protection of children's rights within the realms of criminal, civil, and administrative law.

 

The conference included five sessions that were address: the legal situation of adolescents in schools; challenges in the digital world; achievements and challenges in combating child sexual exploitation and sexual violence; the rights of children in conflict with the law, victims and witnesses in the criminal justice process - challenges and prospects for development in this regard; children's rights in civil and administrative proceedings, international mechanisms and issues regarding access to them; the role of the state in the development of a child-friendly justice system; the mechanisms of swift financing of the child-friendly justice system.
