On May 7, at 13:00, a public lecture on "Papilloma Virus and Papilloma Virus Vaccination in Both Boys and Girls" will be held in the Caucasus University library.

The lecture will be conducted by gynecologist and reproductive specialist Eka Kvirvelia.

What is the papilloma virus?

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is known to be a significant cause of several types of cancer in both men and women, such as: cervical, oropharyngeal, perianal, penile head, head, etc. This virus is primarily transmitted through sexual contact as well as close skin-to-skin contact.

In Georgia, preventive vaccination against HPV is available free of charge for women aged 10 to 45 and for men aged 10 to 26. Additionally, the national screening program offers further preventive measures, including Pap tests and other necessary examinations.

The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is considered the world's first cancer vaccine. Given the strength of the anti-vaccine and anti-scientific campaigns in our country, it's our duty as medical professionals and scientists to educate the public about the types of cancer caused by HPV and how to prevent them.
