On June 19, at 16:00, a public lecture – “Should Georgia Introduce a Tourism Tax? An Assessment of International Practice and Economic Implications” will be held at the Caucasus University Library.

The lecture will be delivered by Giorgi Bregadze, Affiliated Professor at the School of Tourism of Caucasus University.

The lecture will explore the concept and purpose of a tourism tax, international practices in its application, the experience of various countries, and the outcomes achieved. It will also examine the potential economic effects of a tourism tax on tourist demand, the competitiveness of the tourism sector, revenues of state and local budgets, and the financing of tourism infrastructure and destination development.

Particular attention will be paid to the Georgian context, including the opportunities and challenges that may be associated with the possible introduction of a tourism tax in the country.
