The Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Chair “European Union for Peace, Prosperity and Security” (EU-PPS) traditionally joins the events organized within the framework of Europe Day celebrations.
On May 4, 2026, JM Chair EU-PPS hosted Mariam Zivzivadze, Head of the Sales and Customer Relations Department at ECONSUL, who spoke about the importance of freedom of movement between Georgia and the European Union, as well as the key priority issues related to this process. During the meeting, it was noted that the topic goes beyond purely administrative frameworks and represents one of the important dimensions of Georgia’s European integration. The speaker emphasized that freedom of movement has a direct impact on citizens’ well-being - it increases opportunities for education, employment, and professional development, while also fostering bilateral relations between Georgia and EU Member States. Ultimately, these processes contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
Particular attention was paid to migration management, the regulation of labor mobility, security standards, and the deepening of institutional cooperation. It was also highlighted that freedom of movement is closely linked to security - effective migration policies and harmonization with European standards reduce risks and increase international trust. According to the speaker, these processes are fully based on EU values - respect for human rights, the rule of law, and freedom - ensuring both individual well-being and the stable development of society.
The meeting was conducted in an interactive format, giving students the opportunity to receive answers to all their questions.
