Training on Quality of Digital Education

10 April 2025

From April 22 to May 7, two administrative representatives—Dr. Irma Grdzelidze, Director of the Strategic Development Department and Head of the International Accreditation Office, and Diana Mchedlishvili, Director of the Quality Assurance Department—and one academic representative, Mariam Menabde, Dean of the School of Architecture and Design at Caucasus University, participated in the training “Quality of Digital Education.

The activity was conducted within the framework of the PRODIGE project (“Promoting High-Quality Digital Education in Georgia”).

The purpose of the training was to enhance participants’ understanding of digital education quality assurance frameworks at European, national, and institutional levels, drawing on Estonia’s experience as a model. The programme introduced digitally enhanced higher education quality criteria at the course level and provided participants with tools for analysing online and blended learning courses based on these criteria.

Throughout the sessions, participants examined the strengths and potential areas for improvement of digital courses, fostering a deeper awareness of how systematic quality assurance contributes to effective digital learning environments. Discussions also highlighted the importance of institutional strategies, policy alignment, and academic staff development in maintaining and improving the quality of digital education.

Representatives of Caucasus University presented institutional perspectives on digital learning, outlining ongoing initiatives and strategic approaches implemented at the university. As part of the practical component, Diana Mchedlishvili presented how digital education quality criteria are applied in institutional practices and integrated into internal quality assurance processes.

Participation in this training further strengthens the university’s capacity in digital education quality assurance and contributes to achieving the broader objectives of the PRODIGE project to enhance governance, standards, and sustainable digital transformation within the Georgian higher education sector.
