From 17–19 November, President of Caucasus University, Kakha Shengelia, Vice President for Internationalization Irena Melua, and Director of the Projects Department Akaki Kapanadze participated in the GastroTour Stakeholder and Project Management Meeting, held in Stellenbosch, South Africa, within the framework of the Erasmus+ funded Higher Education Capacity Building project, GastroTour.
The event was hosted by Stellenbosch University and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). The project aims to promote innovation, skills development, and sustainability in the fields of wine and culinary tourism, as well as to strengthen cooperation between universities and industry in the eno/gastro tourism sector.
The program included expert discussions, university–industry cooperation formats, and sessions on the development of digital learning tools for tourism education. Participants also visited CPUT’s Wellington Campus and Creation Wines, where partners had the opportunity to explore examples of local wine production and the region’s gastro-tourism potential.
The visit significantly strengthened cooperation between Georgian and South African academic institutions and once again confirmed Caucasus University’s active commitment to the development of sustainable tourism, digital education, and international collaboration.
Telavi State University is the coordinator of the project. The event was attended by consortium partners from Georgia, South Africa, Spain, Portugal, and the Czech Republic. More information about the project can be found here: https://gastrotour.obreal.org/
