CSH Professor Tsisana Bibileishvili in Switzerland

14 May 2026

Professor of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Caucasus University, Doctor of Philological Sciences and interpretor Tsisana Bibileishvili, was invited in April 2026 to the Writers’ and Interpretors’ Residency at Château de Lavigny (Switzerland), where she participated in an international translation workshop alongside Swiss author Catherine Lovey.

The visit was supported by the Swiss foundation Pro Helvetia.  At the invitation of the Foundation, interpretors of Swiss French-language literature from various countries were also present at Château Lavigny.

Over several weeks, intensive work was carried out on the translation of the book. The author and Prof. Tsisana Bibileishvili jointly examined in detail the themes reflected in the work, its literary features, and cultural contexts, which contributed to a deeper and more accurate interpretation of the translation.

Within the programme, participants also discussed contemporary challenges in translation, the importance of literary translation in fostering intercultural dialogue, and the dissemination of Swiss literature across different cultural contexts.

The working sessions were complemented by a cultural programme, which provided participants with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Switzerland’s cultural environment and literary traditions.
