Field lecture of School of Humanities and Social Sciences Students

On April 25, students of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences visited the churches-monasteries in Bolnisi Sioni, Tsugrugasheni and Dmanisi as part of the course - History of Georgian Source Criticism.

 

During the excursion, the students, led by the lecturer Tamaz Gogoladze, viewed the oldest samples of Georgian script - the inscriptions of Bolnisi Sioni. In addition, they visited Tsugrugasheni Church, Dmanisi Sioni, Dmanisi St. Marine Church and, consequently, the inscriptions on their walls and interiors. They did practical work, transferred the palaeographic face of the Tsugrugasheni inscriptions. In addition, they read and verified construction inscription of the Bolnisi bell tower, the tombstone inscriptions preserved in the temple yard and the interior of the church.
