Dr. Khatuna Burkadze, a professor at the School of Law at Caucasus University, presented on how artificial intelligence can advance cyber defense capabilities at the Second International Cybersecurity Conference in Tbilisi. The conference was organized by St. Andrew’s Georgian University in collaboration with Northern Kentucky University.
Dr. Khatuna Burkadze noted: “The integration of artificial intelligence into cybersecurity architectures enables continuous monitoring for potential threats and substantially augments defensive capabilities. AI-driven systems can identify the characteristics of cyberattacks, which is a critical precondition for both their prevention and a timely, proportionate response. Nevertheless, considering the dual nature of artificial intelligence, adversaries also use it to carry out cyberattacks. Consequently, the adoption of AI within the cybersecurity domain simultaneously mitigates existing risks and engenders new challenges, the resolution of which necessitates the formulation of appropriate strategic and legal frameworks”.
