As part of NATO Days, the Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia, Alexander Vinnikov, visited Caucasus University. The visit was hosted by the Department of International Relations and the Irakli Tsereteli NATO Research Center.

Mr. Alexander Vinnikov delivered a public lecture for students and members of the academic community focusing on NATO-Georgia relations and key areas of cooperation between NATO and Georgia. In his lecture, the speaker discussed the history and evolution of NATO, the Alliance’s consensus-based decision-making process, its current agenda, and the contemporary security environment. Particular attention was paid to the key dimensions of NATO-Georgia cooperation, including the activities of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia, the Annual National Programme (ANP), the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package (SNGP), Georgia’s contribution to NATO-led missions and operations, as well as public diplomacy initiatives and practical cooperation mechanisms.

The discussion also addressed Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration prospects, the importance of democratic reforms, and NATO’s continued support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. Following the lecture, students and members of the academic community engaged in a discussion on regional and global security challenges and the future of NATO-Georgia cooperation.

As part of the event, students participated in a simulation of the North Atlantic Council (NAC). Through a role-playing exercise, participants represented NATO member states and engaged in a consensus-based decision-making process. The simulation generated significant interest and active participation, providing students with valuable insight into the functioning of the Alliance and the dynamics of multilateral negotiations.

At the conclusion of the visit, the parties discussed prospects for future cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the successful partnership between Caucasus University and the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia. The cooperation will continue to support educational, research, and awareness-raising initiatives, further enhancing student and young researcher engagement with Euro-Atlantic issues.
