Professor Elisabed Machitidze Attended the International Events of the Turkic World Week in Baku

From 29 June to 3 July 2026, Professor Elisabed Machitidze of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Caucasus University participated in the Turkic World Week held in Baku to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress.

 

The Week was held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The events were organized by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, in cooperation with the Turkic Academy, TÜRKSOY, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, and Baku State University.

 

The program included international conferences, scientific panel discussions, exhibitions, and cultural events dedicated to the historical, linguistic, and cultural heritage of the Turkic world. More than 120 scholars, researchers, and academics from over 20 countries, together with representatives of international Turkic organizations, government institutions, and the diplomatic community, participated in the events.

 

The discussions focused on the development of Turkology, the strengthening of intellectual cooperation among Turkic-speaking peoples, and the advancement of a common scientific and academic space. Particular attention was paid to the historical significance of the First Turkological Congress and to the enduring relevance of its ideas, which continue to inspire contemporary joint scientific initiatives.

 

The participants of the Turkic World Week were awarded commemorative honorary medals dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress in recognition of their participation in the events.
