RIBA Week at Caucasus University

31 March 2026

From 23 to 27 March, Caucasus University hosted RIBA Week, organized by the Royal Institute of British Architects, marking the launch of this international academic initiative.

Organized by the RIBA Europe Chapter, the event aimed to foster knowledge-sharing, learning, and collaboration within the architectural community. It brought together European universities whose architecture programmes are validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), including institutions from Paris, Tbilisi, Krakow, and Madrid.

Within the framework of RIBA Week, Mariam Menabde, Dean of the School of Architecture and Design at Caucasus University and RIBA representative, together with invited guests — architect Wei Yap Ooi, urbanist and SUDA representative Elene Machaidze, and architect Vakhtang Makasarashvili, founder of Makasarashvili Architectural Company — delivered insightful presentations for Caucasus University students.

The programme featured online sessions, as well as a competition and a series of presentations. It is also noteworthy that Salome Lobzhanidze, a student of the Architecture Programme at Caucasus University, was actively involved in the organization of the event on behalf of the university.

It should also be highlighted that the Architecture Programme of Caucasus University has been granted unconditional accreditation (validation) by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
