With the support of Caucasus University, Professor Elisabed Machitidze, Doctor of History and faculty member at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, participated in the 5th International Conference on Social and Educational Sciences held on October 17–18 at Istanbul Gelisim University.

The conference brought together nearly 130 researchers from over 20 countries. Professor Machitidze presented a paper titled "The Georgian Catholic Community in Istanbul: Cultural and Educational Dimension" which explored the role of the Georgian Catholic diaspora established in 19th-century Istanbul in the fields of culture and education. The presentation highlighted the importance of the Feriköy monastery and school in preserving Georgian national identity and advancing education, as well as the contribution of the monastery’s library and printing press in fostering closer ties between Georgia and the West.

The presentation generated considerable interest among the audience and led to a lively and engaging discussion.
