Presentation of Tengiz Verulava's book "Health Care Policy"

14 December 2023

On December 12, the presentation of Tengiz Verulava's book "Health Care Policy" was held at Caucasus University.

Kakha Shengelia, president of Caucasus University, opened the event and welcomed the audience with a speech.

Avtandil Zorbenadze, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Chapidze Emergency Cardiology Center, spoke about the importance of the book.

At the presentation, the author discussed the significance of healthcare policy, particularly in the context of healthcare system reform. In the course of the reforms, many questions have been raised pertaining to healthcare workers, system managers, and health policy researchers. Effectively addressing the challenges within the country's healthcare system requires a well-educated workforce, whose thorough training is an acute problem. One of the reasons for this is the obvious lack of necessary teaching and methodical literature in the Georgian language. The main goal of the book is to contribute to the resolution of this issue.

Tengiz Verulava holds a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree, is a professor, and serves as the editor-in-chief of the international scientific journal "Health Care Policy, Economics, and Sociology." He has been honored with the "Best Scientist of the Year" award by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation. Verulava has written over fifteen books and approximately four hundred scientific articles published both in Georgia and internationally (refer to his SCOPUS profile for more details).

The book was published by Caucasus University, within a university project.

The book is intended for specialists in healthcare policy, healthcare administration and healthcare economics, as well as for general readers interested in healthcare issues. The book is a useful resource for lecturers and students involved in academic programs in health care management and public health care.
