On June 5, within the framework of Librarea Talks, a meeting was held at the Caucasus University bookstore “Libraria” on the topic - “Lessons of Freedom from Ancient Greece - Rebellious Heroes in Ancient Greek Drama”.

The meeting was conducted by Hellenist, translator and Caucasus University Assistant Professor Tatia Mtvarelidze.

The focus of the event was on the heroes of ancient Greek drama, who, through their self-sacrifice and perseverance, became eternal symbols of freedom, truth and social justice. Prof. Mtvarelidze noted, that in ancient Greek theater, art was not merely aesthetics, but also a means of social and political struggle.

In a discussion with the audience, she explained what freedom meant in ancient times, how heroes overcame personal or societal obstacles, and what the people of the modern world can learn from them today – at a time when the issue of freedom is still important and relevant.
