On June 15, the Pepe’s Cup 2026 Spring Semester Football League kicked off on the campus of Caucasus University.
The championship is named after Caucasus University student Giorgi Nishnianidze, known as Pepe, and has been held at the university for the eighth consecutive year.
This year’s league was officially opened by the President of Caucasus University, Mr. Kakha Shengelia, and Giorgi Nishnianidze’s father, Mr. Mamuka Nishnianidze.
The opening ceremony began with the National Anthem of Georgia, performed by the Caucasus University Folk Ensemble. Before the matches started, the university’s Latin American Dance Club created a festive atmosphere for the participants and supporters with an energetic dance performance.
Pepe’s Cup 2026 brings together both Georgian and international students. This spring league features 35 student teams, as well as one team representing the Caucasus University administration.
The matches are officiated by referees invited from the Georgian Football Federation.
The final of Pepe’s Cup 2026 will be held on June 26, when the prize-winning teams will be announced.
