Walking Tour “Nobel Laureates in Tbilisi”

22 May 2026

On May 22, as part of the week marking International Museum Day, Caucasus University students took part in a walking tour - “Nobel Laureates in Tbilisi.”

During the tour, the participants learned about the history of the Nobel Prize, the life of Alfred Nobel, and distinguished Nobel laureates who, at different times, lived in or visited Tbilisi and Georgia. Special focus was placed on the stories of such prominent figures as Bertha von Suttner, Knut Hamsun, Fridtjof Nansen, Boris Pasternak, John Steinbeck, and Mother Teresa.

The walking tour followed a route that brought to life Tbilisi’s historical, cultural, tourist, and museum spaces from the late 19th century through the 1960s. The participants explored locations and stories directly or indirectly connected to Nobel laureates’ visits to Georgia and their impressions of Tbilisi.

The tour offered CU students a valuable opportunity to discover the cultural and historical heritage of Tbilisi and Georgia from the perspective of Nobel laureates whose work and legacy are of global significance.
