Student Scientific Conference "NATO and the New World Order: Challenges and Prospects"

Ir. Tsereteli NATO Research Centre at the Caucasus University, is announcing a student scientific conference on the topic: “NATO and the New World Order: Challenges and Prospects”.

 

The contemporary international security system is facing a variety of new challenges, including global political transformations, regional crises, hybrid warfare and threats to information security. These challenges necessitate a renewed understanding of NATO's role and its strategic directions.

 

The conference aims to engage students in current international political discourse, promote academic thinking and facilitate the exchange of ideas among young researchers.

Location: Caucasus University, 1 Paata Saakadze Street, Tbilisi, Georgia.

 

 

Conference themes and sessions

 

The conference will comprise four thematic sessions focusing on:

- NATO as a key instrument of global security in the contemporary international system;

- NATO's role and objectives amid emerging and shifting geopolitical realities;

- The Alliance's adaptation to the challenges of the 21-st century.

 

Session 1: NATO’s Geopolitical Role in the Modern World Order

 

This session will examine NATO’s strategic position within the global balance of power, its impact on regional security, and how it is adapting to evolving geopolitical circumstances. Participants will assess how NATO’s role is evolving in the context of a developing multipolar world.

 

Session 2: NATO and Contemporary Hybrid Warfare

 

This session will address NATO’s response mechanisms to hybrid threats, including cyberattacks, disinformation and technological pressure, and analyse the ways in which the Alliance seeks to develop flexible defensive strategies.

 

Session 3: NATO’s Relations with Partner Countries and Georgia’s Perspective

 

This session will focus on the nature and importance of NATO’s partnership policy, and on Georgia’s place in regional and global security frameworks. Participants will discuss the dynamics of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration, its achievements to date, and the remaining challenges.

 

Session 4: Alternative Perspectives on NATO

 

This session will explore alternative viewpoints on NATO's role in the contemporary international system.

 

Participation Guidelines

 

The conference is open to students at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.
Working languages: Georgian and English.

 

Participants may submit either individual or co-authored papers.
