Caucasus University hosted a two-day informational lecture-training for students of the School of Economics, led by invited specialists from the Revenue Service. The sessions, focused on “Business Taxation Regimes and Tax Administration Practices in Georgia,” provided students with essential, practice-oriented knowledge in the field.
The event opened with a welcoming address by Tinatin Giorgadze, Administrative Director of the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral Programs at Caucasus School of Economics. She emphasized the importance of practical expertise in students’ academic development and expressed gratitude to the Revenue Service for its continued cooperation.
The first day of the lecture-training was led by Tea Gorgodze, Chief Specialist of the Service Development Division within the Methodology Department of the Revenue Service.
Her presentation offered an in-depth overview of:
- Forms of business registration
- Fundamental principles of tax declaration
- Preferential taxation regimes available to businesses
- Frequently encountered tax violations and mechanisms for their prevention
The second day’s lecture was delivered by Nino Ognadze, Chief Customs Officer of the Customs Methodology Division at the Revenue Service’s Customs Department.
Her session addressed key aspects of customs administration, including:
- Determining the customs value of goods
- Import procedures
- Import-related taxes: import duty, VAT, and excise
- Practical approaches to accurately determining the taxable base for import duties
The two-day event was distinguished by strong student engagement. Participants posed numerous questions and received comprehensive, practice-oriented guidance from the speakers. The lecture-training will play a meaningful role in enhancing students’ understanding of tax and customs procedures and in supporting their future professional development.
