Nana Pirtskhelani is an Associate Professor at the School of Governance of Caucasus University. Since 2023, she has taught courses on energy policy and security in both Georgian and English. She earned her PhD in International Relations from Caucasus University in 2022. She also holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (2010) and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (2000).
Nana Pirtskhelani has more than twenty years of experience in the public and energy sectors. From 2004 to 2019, she held a number of senior positions at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia, including Deputy Head of the International Relations Department and Advisor to the Minister of Energy on energy security and international cooperation. In 2016, she received an award from the European Commission under the INOGATE Programme in recognition of her many years of successful work and her significant contribution to the development of regional energy cooperation. During her public-sector career, she also received professional awards for the successful organization of conferences and government meetings at various levels.
Her main academic and expert interests include energy security, geopolitical transformations, sustainable development, and European integration. Her work focuses on EU energy security challenges, the Southern Gas Corridor, and the prioritization of national security interests in energy-dependent states.
She has completed certificate programs offered by the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies and the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence, as well as a training course in energy policy and energy economics at the University of Wisconsin, USA. Over the years, she has also participated in specialized training programs in EU member states and in international meetings on energy security.
