On May 2–5, the 15th Jubilee National Congress on Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology was held in Tbilisi, organized by the Georgian Association of Allergy, Asthma, and Clinical Immunology in cooperation with the World Allergy Organization. The congress focused on recent advances in allergology, clinical immunology, dermatology, otorhinolaryngology, and pulmonology, as well as current clinical and scientific challenges in these fields. The event brought together Georgian and international experts, physicians, students, and young researchers.
At the congress, Mariam Lomaia, Associate Professor at Caucasus University and Doctor of Medicine, delivered a presentation on the otorhinolaryngological manifestations of rare syndromes, based on the analysis of two clinical cases. The presentation placed particular emphasis on the importance of early diagnosis of Wegener’s granulomatosis and Alport syndrome through otorhinolaryngological signs. The paper also highlighted the role of a multidisciplinary approach in patient management and in improving disease prognosis.
In addition, on April 25–26, 2026, the First Scientific-Practical Conference of the S. Khechinashvili Georgian Association of Otorhinolaryngologists was held, bringing together practicing otorhinolaryngologists from across the country. The conference featured discussions on recent developments in the field and innovative approaches to treatment.
Associate Professor Mariam Lomaia also delivered a presentation on clinically significant and noteworthy diseases in otolaryngology. Her presentation drew on real clinical cases and examined their diagnostic and therapeutic features. She also actively contributed to the moderation of the sessions, facilitating scientific discussions, coordinating speakers, and engaging with the audience.
These activities highlight the importance of early diagnosis of rare diseases in otorhinolaryngology and the need for multidisciplinary cooperation in modern clinical practice.
