Public lecture - Mikheil Muskhelishvili's 1949 publication "L'Europe face au fédéralisme"

On June 8, at 18:00, a public lecture by Ioseb Nanobashvili, lecturer of the School of Governance, will be held in the conference hall of Caucasus University.
 
 
The purpose of the public lecture is to introduce the students to the 1949 publication "L'Europe face au fédéralisme" by Michel Muskheli (Mikhail Muskhelishvili), which is one of the first fundamental scientific works on European integration created after the Second World War.
 
 
The following topics will be discussed at the meeting:
 
  • The ideas expressed by Mikheil Muskhelishvili in 1949, which are reflected in the text of Robert Schuman's historic declaration of 1950, in the Paris Agreement of April 18, 1951, which created the European Coal and Steel Community, and are in other founding documents of the European Union.
  • How Mikheil Muskhelishvili adapts the legal and institutional elements of the federal structure to the needs of post-war Europe and the political-economic reality.
  • How does Mikheil Muskhelishvili explain the legal and institutional foundations of the origin and development of supranationalism and how he sees different important stages of the development of the European Union.
 
Ioseb Nanobashvili is the director of the regional representation of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) in the South Caucasus; Doctor of Political Sciences; Master of Diplomacy; Associate Professor of the Caucasus School of Governance; Researcher at the University of Manitoba, Canada; Professor Emeritus of Webster University (Athens).
 
 
He holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and in 1998-2002 and 2006-2008 he held various positions in the European Integration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in 2002-2006 he worked as an advisor to the Georgian Mission to the European Union in Brussels. Ioseb Nanobashvili is the author of 7 studies and several opinion and position documents related to the European Union, including: "Seven Steps to Understanding the European Union" and "The EU's Relations with its Eastern Neighborhood as Seen through EU Presidency Programs 2001-2021".
