Mariam Tarasashvili is an Assistant Professor at the School of Governance since 2021. In 2025, she defended her doctoral dissertation at Caucasus University. She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Tallinn University and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Tbilisi State University.
Since 2015, Mariam Tarasashvili has been working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. Her current work is related to Euro-Atlantic integration and security policy issues, although at different stages of her career she has also worked on international organizations and European integration. From 2016 to 2019, she worked at the Embassy of Georgia to the United States. Between 2013 and 2015, she worked at the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs, where she supervised the Division of Labour Relations and Social Partnership.
Mariam Tarasashvili also participated in the Penn Kemble Program of the National Endowment for Democracy in 2014–2015 and worked with the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) as a consultant.
She is engaged in academic and research activities. Her fields of interest include international relations, geopolitics, security, and democracy promotion policy. Her latest article was published in 2024 in Tallinn University’s journal East-West Studies under the title: “New Era of Uncertainties: How U.S. Foreign Aid Works in Times of War.”
